Carlos Núñez
Friday, October 26 at 7:30pm
A virtuoso of the Gaita, a Galician bagpipe, this Spaniard brings us Celtic music. Carlos Núñez’s music has garnered multiple Latin GRAMMY nominations and has sold over 1 million records worldwide. Known for his eclectic collaborations, Núñez has worked with a diverse body of artists including Sinéad O’Connor, Jackson Browne, and Irish musician Dónal Lunny. He appeared as a featured member of the Chieftains on their GRAMMY-winning album Santiago (1997), which included collaborations with Los Lobos and Linda Ronstadt. The broad scope of this Spanish-born musician’s influences includes Celtic as well as strands of flamenco, North African, and Middle Eastern music.
"In Galicia we play Celtic music as the Irish, Scottish, and Bretons do, but we add Spanish passion and temperament, that’s our trademark."—Núñez on the contemporary Galician musical renaissance
